Troost Festival 2009
The 5th Annual Troost Festival took place on May 16th, 2009. It was a celebration of the historical diversity of the Troost community. Featuring Native American dancers, Irish, Jewish and Greek music and dance, African drummers, dancers and a variety of African American performers from Spoken Word to Rap. The day started off with singing of the Lord's prayer accompanied by Native American sign language and flowed through the day peacefully with acts including, rock, folk, blues, jazz, klezmer and others. The streets were lined with tables and booths, sharing information or selling wares. It was a beautiful picture of how people from all walks of life and faith can come together peacefully and share what is unique to each one.
